Types of Email MarketingEmail Marketing is very versatile and can be used for more than just promotional purposes. Although promotional email is one of the most utilized methods, email is also used to build relationships as well as simply to inform. Depending on the purpose there are various types of options to choose from when building an Email Marketing Campaign. Postcard Email - A promotional message that is designed to be short and to the point; visible in its entirety when viewed. [postcard sample] Catalog Email - Longer than postcard emails and feature several products, similar to a print catalogue. [catalog sample] Short-form Editorials - Quick ongoing communications such as a "tip of the day". These emails are brief and don't require much time to read. They differ from postcard emails in that the focus of the message is editorial with promotional content being secondary if at all present. Newsletters - An evolved form of the Short-form Editorial which contains a lot of useful information and insight shared by the author. Newsletters can help organizations build credibility and establish them as experts in their field. Alert Emails - Similar to auto-responders but instead of being triggered by a recipient action, they're dependent on a particular event to which you want to draw attention to, i.e. A sale that a store wants to promote, or a ski resort sending out a promotion right after a big snowfall.
